FieldWork Hong Kong seeks to study and foster the rural and cultural environment of Hong Kong and southern China. Our interests include natural history, farming and rural economics.
Our centre on Lantau island serves as a base for study and research into the human and natural life of the bioregion which although politically divided as two systems, is one, from the bio-geograhical point of view.
Like-minded people - country lovers, nature enthusiasts, researchers, gardeners - are welcome to stay at the Lantau Rural Studies Centre at Mui Wo on Lantau Island, 30 minutes by ferry from Hong Kong's Central district. The two-storey dwelling lies in a secluded, lightly wooded valley with ocean and mountain views. It makes a fine refuge for hikers, field naturalists, and others interested in a rural lifestyle. We are developing a butterfly garden on the land around the house.
Stays are limited to three months. Rates and conditions available on enquiry. Interested persons should contact info@fwhongkong.org
